Web Beans overview - video with Gavin King

by Karsten Wade

Fresh from Australia, via JBoss.org, this is nearly an hour-long presentation on Web Beans. As the specification lead and originator of the JSR, Gavin has a lot to say on the subject:

Gavin provides an exceptionally nice walk-through behind not just how Web Beans works, but why it works the way it does. He provides comparison to AOP features, and even demonstrates the recursive nature of Web Beans functionality being used to define Web Beans functionality. Meta-annotations are cool. Meta-meta-annotations are even cooler.

    Will there be transcripts?
    Thanks.

To be honest, I think it is unlikely we will commission transcripts for video or audio sessions of this length.

On the other hand, there may be a bigger market for transcripts than we realize. Other than taking a survey, perhaps we could do a transcript of one session and see how the web traffic for that session looks.

Does a transcript make it easier to understand the speaker, especially when not a native speaker or having difficulty with the accent?

    Thanks for the comment.

    Thanks for the reply.

In my day-to-day work, I have to read a lot in english, mostly technical stuff, and I am comfortable with that (I’m brazilian). But unfortunately my english listenning is too bad.

Perhaps there is really a hidden demand for transcripts, I don’t know.

It makes easier to understand the speaker, anyway. It is not necessarily a problem with the accent.

    Thanks again.
